- Discussion: Tuesday
sections are at 4, 5, 6 and 7 in Center 201.
The discussion section is an important part of the course. Plan
to attend.
Hand in your homework at your section.
Q: I can't attend my
section. What should I do?
A: Since homework is
due in section, you must make some provision for getting it handed
in. Perhaps a friend will do so or perhaps the TA will
allow you to put it in his/her mailbox before section.
If space allows, you can attend another section without formally
changing sections.

and Snider, Introduction
to Vector Analysis, 7th edition.
There will be some reference to Stewart (good if you have it, but no need
to buy it).

HOMEWORK & GRADING FAQs:
Section
and Homework
Q: What if I have to miss
my section someday?
A: Either have a friend hand
in your homework or make arrangements with your TA to hand it
in at another time.
Q: What if I miss a homework
assignment?
A: You get no credit for it.
Q: I think a homework problem
was graded unfairly, what should I do?
A: You can take it to your
TA, but it's probably not worth the effort since individual problems
are worth relatively little.
How
Grades are Determined (Percentages are Listed Above)
Q: I did poorly on the
____ "hour" exam, but I did well on everything else. Does
this mess up my grade?
A: Probably not. When
I assign course grades, I try to take into account the fact that
someone may have had a bad day on ONE of the two "hour"
exams.
Q: I did well on my exams
but had trouble with homework because it takes me time to learn
the material.
A: If you did the homework,
but did much poorer on it than on the exams, I'll make allowances.
Q: I did well on my exams,
but never bothered to do any homework. Does this mess up my grade?
A: Only in borderline cases.
Q: I know how to do this type
of problem, I just {misread it}/{made an algebra error}/{forgot
how to integrate}/{et cetera} shouldn't I get more credit?
A: The answer is too complicated,
so look at this ps or
pdf file.
The
Exams (Times and Locations are Listed Above)
Q: Do I need blue books
for the exams?
A: Yes.
Q: Do I need to bring my ID
to the exams?
A: Yes. We may or may
not check IDs.
Q: What topics are covered
on exam ___?
A: This is not yet decided.
When it is, it will appear with the homework listing.
Q: What can I bring to use
on exam ___?
A: This is not yet decided.
When it is, it will appear with the homework listing.
Q: How long is the final exam?
A: Roughly twice the length
of an "hour" exam.
