Faculty Employment Opportunities
The Department of Mathematics, within the Division of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (http://www.math.ucsd.edu), invites applications for a postdoctoral position in applied harmonic analysis and/or mathematical foundations of data science. The appointment is for one year and renewable for a second year, subject to satisfactory performance.
The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with Professor Cloninger and other professors in The Center for Computational Mathematics (ccom.ucsd.edu) on problems that include: analysis and algorithms on graphs, geometric analysis of high-dimensional data, mathematical theory of deep learning, high-dimensional time-series analysis, applied harmonic analysis, applications to machine learning, and applications to medicine and imaging. A strong background in analysis, probability, and at least one of the areas above, is highly recommended. A Ph.D. in Mathematics (or a related field) received prior to the beginning of the appointment is required.
