Waldemar J. Trjitzinsky Scholarship

Mathematics Senior John Quinn has been awarded a Trjitzinsky Scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year. John transferred to UC San Diego from San Diego City College in fall 2005. A father of three boys, John returned to pursue higher education in mathematics after working as an electronics technician in the telecommunications industry.

Each year the American Mathematical Society (AMS) awards Waldemar J. Trjitzinsky Scholarships of $3,000 each to undergraduates majoring in mathematics. UC San Diego was randomly selected by the AMS; the math department determined the recipient from a list of qualified applicants.

The scholarships are funded by a 1988 bequest in memory of Waldemar J. Trjitzinsky and are intended to help needy, talented students pursue their undergraduate studies in mathematics
