Using NCSA Telnet
Accounts :
A computing account is available to every teaching
visitor, research visitor, visiting scholar, and visiting Post-Doc
who is affiliated with the Math Department at the University of
California at San Diego. Accounts expire two weeks after you leave
UCSD. To open an account, stop by the Chair's office and sign
up with Tony Rodgers. Accounts are usually ready within two working
days. If you need help with your account, stop by the Math Computing
Support office with photo-identification.
Connecting:
To connect to a host/server:
Start NCSA Telnet.

Open

Enter the name of the host/server you wish to
connect to where it says Host/Session Name.

If you have opened an account on our server the
name of the server will be euclid.ucsd.edu. As is shown in the
previous graphic.
Click on Connect or simply press return
when done entering the host/server name.
You should then receive a window similar to the
one pictured below. With the name of the host/server you are attempting
to connect to listed on the title bar.
