Department Contacts

Below is a brief list of people that you will most likely talk with at some point during your time at UCSD. This list is by no means exhaustive, as there are more administrative roles than these listed.

There is a hierarchy of contacts in case the grad student is running into difficulties. The Senior TA, Andy Parrish, is the first person one should talk to with teaching issues.

For academic issues, one should first go to their faculty advisor and then to the Graduate Vice Chair, Ron Evans, if the situation is still not resolved.

Pretty much all other issues, including advancing to candidacy, payroll issues, office issues, and admissions issues are handled by the Graduate Program Coordinators, Lois Stewart & Kimberly Eaton.

  Public face of the department. Attends various campus meetings and mathematical functions on campus.

  Faculty member who oversees training for first-year Teaching Assistants (TA).
  
  
• Evans, Ron - Graduate Vice Chair
  
  The Graduate Vice Chair advises the Department about all aspects of the graduate program, in particular, administering the graduate exams and heading the Qualifying Exam Appeals Committe, recruiting graduate students, advising about policy issues concerning the graduate program, advising about curricular issues affecting the graduate program, providing recommendations for graduate student awards and scholarships, and providing advice on preparing graduate students for the profession.

  The Chair's assistant is in charge of issuing keys for offices and omnilock codes for the labs and larger graduate offices.
