What We Do
Our Group exists to achieve two goals:
-
To provide the research community with a resource for seeking
assistance with mathematical questions that may arise in their research.
-
To broaden our mathematical training by giving us
the opportunity to:
-
See how mathematics is applied in other fields.
-
Communicate mathematical ideas to non-specialists.
The primary emphasis of our group is towards achieving
this mutual benefit. That is, problems we undertake should achieve both
goals (1) and (2) listed above. While we are primarily a service for
the UCSD research community, we will occasionally accept research problems
from outside industries (perhaps for a fee). Projects can be both
long and short term.
What We Do Not Do
The problems posed to our group must be those encountered
during the course of a research investigation. We do NOT assist with
homework problems or class projects. We are also NOT a tutorial service,
and do not have the resources to offer mathematical instruction.
