Course Description

This course will be about using convex techniques to solve nonconvex
problems, to the cuttingedge research advances and applications. To be
precisely, it will cover recently developed new techniques in polynomial
optimization, control theory, convex geometry, moment and tensor
computations, sparse/low rank optimization. The background on linear conic
optimization, like semidefinite programming, is preferable for the class.

Prerequisite
 Consent by Instructor.
Textbook
 The recommended textbook is
Semidefinite Optimization and Convex Algebraic Geometry,
edited by Blekherman, Parrilo and Thomas. A free version for the book
can be obtained here.
