Course Description

This course will focus on some convex analysis and optimization theory.
The topic to be convered includes: convex optimization, linear conic optimization,
linear programming, second order cone programming, semidefinite programming,
duality theory, numerical methods for convex optimization,
saddle point and min-max theory, and other related topics.

Prerequisite
- Consent by Instructor.
Textbook
- There is no required textbook. A recommended one is
Lectures on Modern Convex Optimization by Ben-Tal and Nemirovski.
Assignments

There are no regular assignments for this course.
To get a satisfacoty grade, the students can choose to do one of the following optio>
- Make a presentation of duration of one class lecture,
about research subjects
that are related to this course, or
- Write a term paper, focusing on one or more subjects related
to this course, or

Other equivalent efforts, to be consent by the instructor.

Grading

The final course grade will be based on the performance
of completing assignments and attending lectures.
