Yosef Rinott
Professor Emeritus of Mathematics
Ph.D. Mathematics, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, 1974

After completing his Ph.D., Yosef Rinott spent a year in Cornell and another at the University of Chicago. He joined the faculty of the Statistics Department at the Hebrew University in 1976, and spent two years at Stanford University during 1980-1982. He joined the UCSD Mathematics department in 1990 and retired in 2000, to join the Statistics Department at the Hebrew University.

His research interests include probabilistic inequalities, structure of distributions and related notions of dependence and applications to statistical modeling and game theory, limit theorems and approximations for dependent random variables, certain aspects of sampling theory, and applied statistics.
