An integrated study of discretization, adaptivity and iterative methods for solving partial differential equations

Abstract:

This talk will touch upon three general aspects of numerical solution of partial differential equations: discretization (for transforming a continuous problem to a discrete problem), grid adaptation (for optimizing the discrete scheme) and iterative methods (for solving the resulting discrete systems). A number of recent results will be presented in all these different aspects and an integrated application of these results will be illustrated through an example from modeling of complex fluids.
