Gradient Ricci solitons are those Riemannian manifolds whose Ricci tensor is equal to a constant multiple of the metric plus the hessian of a function. I will discuss some aspects of the literature on complete gradient Ricci solitons assuming that the hessian of the function is not identically zero.
