Position description
The Department of Mathematics (http://www.math.ucsd.edu), within the School of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. We invite applications for our Stefan E. Warschawski Visiting Assistant Professorships in all areas of Mathematics, Statistics, and related topics. All positions are subject to availability of funding. These positions are aimed at new and recent PhDs whose work demonstrates strong potential in mathematical research. These positions are three-year nonrenewable appointments.
Teaching in Mathematics, Statistics, and related topics will be expected, and the teaching load is four quarter courses per year. Lecture courses will be at the undergraduate upper and lower division levels.
We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic may have had a substantial impact on academic productivity. In our academic hiring processes, we will be keeping this in mind as we consider applicants’ achievement relative to opportunity. We encourage applicants to reflect on constraints on opportunity in their field that were caused by the events of the pandemic and where applicable, to discuss their achievements in this light.
