The Level Set Method in a Finite Element Setting

Abstract:

The level set method is a way of tracking moving interfaces numerically. Topological changes (splitting or joining) of several moving interfaces are captured naturally by the level set method. I will briefly introduce the level set method, then discuss some of my current research: the level set method in a finite element setting, body fitting a mesh to the interface, reinitialization and application to finding equilibrium solute-solvent interfaces.
