The Pick Problem

Abstract:

Given $z_0$ and $\lambda_0$ the Schwarz lemma tells us when we can find an analytic map $f:\mathbb{D}\rightarrow \mathbb{D}$ such that $f(0)=0$ and $f(z_0)=\lambda_0.$ We consider the following more general problem: Given some data $(z_i)^{N}_{i=1}$ and $(\lambda_i)^{N}_{i=1}$ when is there an analytic $f:\mathbb{D}\rightarrow \mathbb{D}$ such that $f(z_i)= \lambda_i.$
